STEP 1: SITE SELECTION & LAND PREPARATION

Selection of site for taking up of protected cultivation is a critical step and this has to be done with utmost care. Places having high rainfall and humidity are not suitable for its cultivation.

Well-drained sandy loam soils having good percolation is most suitable to grow capsicum. The soil pH of 6 to 7 and EC < 1 mm hos/cm is ideal for growing capsicum.

 STEP 2: FOUNDATION

The foundation used will be determined by the type of greenhouse, the building codes, and, in some cases, personal preference. Essentially, the foundation is the complete system on which the greenhouse structure sits.

One of the key components of a foundation is the footing. The footing refers to the point at which the structure meets the soil. This is the section that the structure rests upon. Footers are not always necessary for a standard hobby greenhouse. In situations where they are necessary, footers are typically poured concrete and their exact depth is determined by local building codes and the location’s frost levels.

STEP 3: ERECTION OF POLY HOUSE

The crops grown in open field are exposed to vivid environmental conditions, attack of insects and pests, whereas the polyhouse provides a more stable environment.

STEP 4: GUTTER AND POLYFILM INSTALLATION

Gutter and Polyfilm Installation are frames of the inflated structure covered with a transparent material in which crops are grown under controlled environment conditions. Gutter and Polyfilm Installations well as other modes of controlled environment cultivation have been evolved to create favorable micro-climates, which favors the crop production could be possible all through the year or part of the year as required.

STEP 5: SHADE NET INSTALLATION

50% HDPE white shade net is fixed to support another layer of shade net (green or black with 35% shade), which is movable or retractable. This additional shade net is used during hot summer mid days (Feb-June), sparingly during the winter season and whenever the sunlight is more between 11.00 am to 3.00 pm. UV stabilized 40 mesh nylon net is provided on all sides of the net house.

STEP 6: BED PREPARATION

The land should be thoroughly ploughed and soil should be brought to fine tilth. Well decomposed organic manure at the rate of 20-25 kg per sq meter is mixed with soil. Raised beds are formed after bringing soil to fine tilth. The bed size should be 90-100 cms wide and 15-22 cms height. Between the beds walking space of 45 cms to 50 cm need to be provided.

STEP 7: CROP SUPPORTING SYSTEM

STEP 8: DRIP IRRIGATION SYSTEM

Place one 16mm inline drip lateral at the center of the bed having emitting points at every 30 cm interval with a discharge rate of 2 ltr/hr or 4 ltr/hr.

STEP 9: TRANSPLANTATION

In agriculture and gardening, transplanting or replanting is the technique of moving a plant from one location to another. Most often this takes the form of starting a plant from seed in optimal conditions, such as in a greenhouse or protected nursery bed, then replanting it in another, usually outdoor, growing location.

STEP 10: HARVESTING

Harvesting is the process of removal of entire plants or economic parts after maturity. The economic product may be grain, seed leaf, root or entire plant. Harvesting is the process of collecting the mature rice crop from the field. Paddy harvesting activities include reaping, stacking, handling, threshing, cleaning, and hauling. These can be done individually or a combine harvester can be used to perform the operations simultaneously.
